The body is our physical self… so the mass of flesh, skin, muscles, cells, organs and bones that make us up internally and externally. And no matter our belief system or life choices, our body is our vessel, and it enables us to act out thoughts and desires, to benefit from activity and enjoy journeys, and to have the gift of an embrace.
There is no ideal physical body… a fully functioning one is a good start, but people with physical conditions or disabilities from all over the world have proved that they can still enjoy an active and fulfilling life.
We are all individuals, and so our bodies are unique to each one of us. Caring for our body is not about the desire to look good, (although the aesthetic benefits are a bonus,) but it is about feeling good from the outside in, and the inside out. We manifest our physical form. It is a simple equation; we get out, what we put in… And this goes with anything in the physical world… so what types of foods and beverages, and how much of them we eat and drink, our hygiene habits, and beauty regimes, as well as the frequency and type of physical exercise that we practise.
In this lifetime, we are given just one physical body, and which ever form that may be, in which ever shade, and which ever size, it is important that we each take care of our own body. We have duties towards ourselves to ensure that we are as physically fit and as healthy as possible.
And this includes feeling and thinking positively about our body, because the body is connected with the breath and energy, with our emotional mind, with our intellect and wisdom, and with our spirituality, and if we create a balance between all of these elements then we are truly in touch with our core of being and as a result we can live a wonderful life of clarity and bliss.
