Yoga has shown itself to me gradually, and in my life’s experiences I have learnt in a way that the yoga philosophy would have taught… I genuinely believe that my complete embrace of yoga has had to come at this point in my life; because it is at this point that I am free from dwelling on the past and fearing for the future. Yoga has healed me in so many ways, and for this I am grateful, humbled and finally content.
The studying that I carried out for my yoga teaching training with Heather Agnew of Yoga Trinity Canberra, really stamped the whole yogic philosophy on asana practice… that it is about the journey and not the destination. I will ensure I continue to teach this, as we get so caught up in day-to-day life on the completion of tasks and the achieving of goals that we lose sight of the actual doing of these things… the smaller things that allow us to achieve or to learn to gain or to discover… and even to fail, but if we fail at anything surely we still gain so much from the experiences leading to that failure…
Everybody has their own individual journey with yoga, and this is why I believe it to be such a special practice. When I decided to do the teacher training at Yoga Trinity, I just knew it was my path forward in life.
Heather Agnew is a humble, lovely lady with humour, warmth and knowledge – she teaches in a way that proves the traditions of yoga can be brought into modern living, and as one of her many students, I am very grateful to have her as a teacher.
I have thoroughly enjoyed learning more about yoga, a way of life that I will continue to learn and teach about, and I feel enriched having met other people on their individual paths of yoga, and most importantly, I have more self awareness… Yoga may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but I would so recommend having regular sips of self awareness…
So what happens at a yoga teacher training graduation?
Well, my graduation consisted of all of my fellow students, and some family members. We were asked to wear white or light colours, which symbolize freshness and the beginning of a journey despite coming to the end of the training.
We chanted and sang and we also had a few giggles, sharing memories of the course.
Heather handed out our certificates and lighted a candle for each of us.
We students thanked Heather, and gave her gratitude gifts, and then we shared more time together chatting over homemade food that each of us had brought to the ceremony… YUM!
Much Metta to Heather and my fellow students.
